Aker Solutions' Application Engineering - Support Team based in Port Klang is responsible for delivering services to multidicipline Projects across the Engineering and Manufacturing organization in Port Klang. The team is a multifunctional team that consists of personnel that provides services such as Manufacturing Support, Material and Welding Expertise, Engineering Plannign and Processes and Document Management. We need experienced welding engineers that can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the subsea market. We are looking for Welding Engineer:

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • To develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals (carbon steels, stainless steels, alloy steels, etc)

  • To establish welding procedures and to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre-and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post heating requirements

  • To coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification

  • To review the performance of quality control systems established for QC, NDT inspectors and welders

  • To monitor performance of welders and promote corrective action where necessary

  • To prepare technical reports as result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations

  • To contact personnel of other agencies, engineering personnel, or clients to exchange ideas, information, or offer technical advice concerning welding matters

Qualifications and Personal Qualities:

  • Minimum a degree or equivalent in Metallurgy, Welding Technology; Mechanical or Materials Science

  • Certified welding inspector

  • Minimum 6 years experience in n engineering/welding background

  • Sound Knowledge in metallurgy, various welding processes and welding equipment

  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge and experience with industry and standards, and codes such as ANSI B 31.3, ASME Section V and IX, AWS D1.1, API series for XMT, wellheads, risers such as API 6A, 17D, 16A, 16C, 16F, 16R, 5L, etc.

  • Experienced in NDT techniques (UT, RT, PT, MT)

  • Experience dealing with projects in China will be an added advantage
