Visioneering enables optimised methods and design up-front

MMO project challenges
The MMO nature of project work is to upgrade platforms already fully equipped and in operation. This often challenges our installation methods and related layout and design. Optimised installation methods are key issues in reducing risk and improving productivity.

Optimised by visioneering
Visioneering is a combination of simultaneously engineering and using of visualisation tools. Visioneering enables optimised methods and design up-front. The tools are so powerful that they enable the project team to perform real time simulations 1:1 together with the customer to decide on optimised solutions faster through common understanding. This reduces engineering and installation time, as well as man hours. It may also contribute to reduced or avoided shutdown. These services are offered through close cooperation with visioneering technology, which is a part of the Aker Solutions family.

Simulation for method optimization and design review related to:

  • Installations and critical lifting operations
  • Hook-ups
  • Shutdown logistics
  • Material handling
  • Layout challenges
  • Removal and decommissioning

Animated simulations for:

  • Safeop, safe job analysis (SJA)
  • Visual part of work packageReports and presentation
  • Tenders and method reviews

Tools include:

  • Iport
  • Lifting operation simulator
  • Marine operation simulator
  • PDMS exporterMMO project specific simulators

Visioneering utilised in an MMO project

Visund lifeboat upgrades phase one completed in January 2011

  • Fast track project with high execution risk
  • Applied simulation tools to optimise the installation process and reduce risk
  • Won a risk management price in Statoil in front of 1700 other projects
  • Completed within planned time and hour estimate without any quality or HSE incidents

Visund lifeboat upgrades phase two ongoing

  • Fast track project with even higher installation and method risks than phase one
  • A dedicated crane simulator is developed to:
  • Optimise method and installation supported by Statoil’s installation crew
  •  Increase the quality of safety reviews
  • Provide the installation crew the opportunity to train on the actual work task identified by Aker Solutions engineers in a simulator that is 1:1 with reality
