Hydrate inhibition through the use of monoethylene glycol (MEG) is a complex process technology that prevents ice and hydrate formation in subsea pipelines.

Aker Solutions offers a total loop design. Combining flow assurance analyses, in-house umbilical and subsea equipment expertise with a world leading understanding of MEG regeneration and reclamation. While cooperation with IFE (Institute for Energy Technology) provides world leading competence on pipeline chemistry and corrosion.

MEG is highly efficient, recyclable and able to filter out salts, resulting in reduced energy consumption. Aker Solutions’ MEG reclamation unit pumps lean MEG at pressure into the wellhead, where it joins the gas flowing from the subsea tree to the treatment facility. Our MEG technology is considered the world leader thanks to its advanced design, more extensively field-proven than any other.
