Aker Solutions' Structural & Architectural Engineering department based in Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia, develop and design Structural & Architectural engineering related documents in order to meet project and client requirements. We need a Structural Engineer who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the oil and gas market. We are looking for a local Malaysian Structural Engineer.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
The Structural Engineer shall within own Area of Work:
perform Structural design analyses and calculations, prepare deliverables in accordance with project requirements
be responsible for technical correctness of own and Graduate Structural Engineers’ deliverables. Ensure that sufficient checking is performed.
interact with seniors or Structural Engineers to produce deliverables as per schedule
report progress on a weekly basis
provide timely the necessary sketches and guidance to drafting and design group and verify that the Structural requirements are reflected in the design
perform engineering checks of drawings with main focus on dimensions, member size, etc.
to prevent undue delay communicate day to day technical issue and seek guidance for success of the project when required
ensure compliance to Company Work Processes and Technical Standards during day to day design work
identifying and implementing the relevant HSE aspects during all design phases
Qualifications and Personal Qualities:
Possess a bachelor degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering or equivalent with elective papers on Structural or Civil Engineering. Registered with BEM. Foreign employees to have Chartered Engineer certification.
Should have at least 2-5 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas, offshore and/or onshore, in the Structural or Civil engineering discipline.
Working knowledge in SACS or equivalent for Structural analysis software and preferably MathCad for engineering calculations.
Basic knowledge in international codes and standards, i.e. API, ISO, AISC and etc.
Basic knowledge in international Oil & Gas company standards, i.e. PETRONAS PTS, SHELL DEP, ONGC ONGC-design criteria and etc.
Good knowledge in principle of Structural
Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Able to guide graduate engineers.
Basic experience with various calculations and analytics
Basic experience in Structural engineering practices and relevant deliverables
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
General understanding of Structural design works and processes.
Willing to constantly enhance his/her Structural knowledge
