Aker Solutions' Manufacturing team are based in Port Klang is looking for an experienced Senior Manufacturing manager that can fully support the improvement and changed activity across the operations of the Port Klang Site. This is a vital role to the business and requires an individual with significant drive, vision on focus, a key change agent and effective in continuous improvement, performance management and staff development.


Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Ensures that duties, responsibilities, authority and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood
  • Communicate regularly with the team, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning operational issues / performance (KPI’s relevant to them) and flag issues \ concerns upwards
  • Establish objectives and procedures governing the performance of assigned activities and issues specific annual objectives to immediate subordinates and group objectives for broader team
  • Apply lean techniques where appropriate including adherence to 5S principals, initiate and carry out continuous improvement projects that improve effectiveness and/or reduce operating costs
  • Ensure assigned workshop operates in full compliance with work procedures and standards; Aker Solutions’ HSE requirements, ISO 9001, 14000 and 18000
  • Ensure load forecast is categorized in a manner that reflects different resource competences and sufficient capacity is in place to execute workload (4 M)
  • Manage the financial performance of area – budget control, man-hour booking, create a culture where employees are aware of the financial consequence of actions
  • Support tenders teams with manufacturing level of effort & cycle times
  • Identify and implement capital investments needed to increase productivity / capacity or improve on efficiencies to meet overall strategy for unit
  • Actively promote, through your personal commitment, Aker Solutions’ HSEQ Policies, Principles, Just Care™, HSE Mindset, Just Rules, Just Culture and HSE Operating system

Qualifications and Personal Qualities:

  • Degree in Manufacturing or Engineering discipline however formal qualification can replaced by relevant experience
  • 5 years’ leadership experience in a relevant Manufacturing background.
  • Developed High performing, agile & learning teams

  • Change Management – Understands and been involved in Cultural Change programs

  • Leading with lean principles and continuous improvement focus

  • Financial responsibility, overhead management, forecasting & control

  • Worked in project oriented matrix organisation

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and KPI’s - Utilisation, efficiency, Productivity
  • Excellent communicator - ability to engage non office staff and executive stakeholders
  • Production planning skills and ability to manage multiple priorities on daily basis – knowledge of MRP system (SAP)
  • Continuous Improvement leadership – Working knowledge and deliver demonstrable results

  • Understand finance terminology, recovery models, forecasting process
  • Ability to manage financial responsibilities
  • Competence development & Performance management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
