Our London team provides front-end studies, engineering, procurement and project management services for initiating and executing oil & gas field, offshore wind HVDC, renewable energy and carbon capture developments. We are currently looking for Principal Structural Designer for our New Build team, the role will be based at our Chiswick office, UK.

About New BuildThe New Build segment is responsible for delivering major energy projects for the oil & gas and renewable markets. The segment includes all phases of a project, and specializes on delivering complete solutions that include engineering, procurement, construction and installation.

The Principal Designer within the structural engineering team delivers the structural engineering effort on a project or in a tender in accordance with Aker Solutions’ values / attitudes and contractual requirements. Assuming responsibility for the delivery of all or specific parts, as directed by the lead structural engineer, of the structural design effort. Ensuring that other aspects of the project such as procurement, construction, completion and operation are given proper consideration and that the structural engineering effort is controlled and delivered within contractual schedule and budget.

Responsible for leading structural design teams to deliver all or specific parts of the structural design, as directed by the lead structural engineer, within areas such as:

• Delivering quality design for structural components on onshore and offshore renewables and oil & gas projects
• Preparing, maintaining and checking the 3D model and discipline drawings for different phases of the project according to construction requirements and project schedule.
• Developing and checking of 2D drawings of structures.
• Supporting structural MTO activities.
• Discipline model administration.
• Development of CAD standard practices.
• Managing coordination between design disciplines and third parties.

• HNC preferred.
• Significant experience within the offshore oil & gas/renewable energy sector or onshore oil & gas / carbon capture sector, with an emphasis on offshore.
• Track record in Principal Structural Designer role(s) from a minimum of one FEED, E&P or EPC project.
• Must be able to input and control information in 3D model, (E3D, PDMS or Navisworks).
• Fully capable of making and checking of 2D drawings in Autocad and / or Microstation.
• Good working knowledge of relevant structural design codes.
• Ability to manage and plan own work scope.
• Hard working conscientious individual capable of working on ones own initiative
• Good communicator and team player.
• Experience in multiple office execution / workshare and managing high value execution centres.
• A good knowledge of design, fabrication and welding of heavy modular steel structures is beneficial
