Our office at Stord is now looking for a Senior Material Engineer  to help us in our mission to #Powerthechange.

What will you be doing?

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of requirements and technical aspects for new tenders and contracts.
  • Participate in the early stages of projects, focusing on material selection, assembly, and welding processes.
  • Stay informed and updated on Material Take Off (MTO) details, including material qualities and quantities for structural and piping components, from project inception through to completion.
  • Maintain strong communication with production departments, actively participating in production meetings, providing necessary familiarization, and offering expertise on material and welding technical matters.
  • Support and contribute to mechanical testing at Stord Yard’s test laboratories, including corrosion testing, hardness testing, bend testing, and macro/micro evaluations.
  • Establish and sustain close collaboration with research institutions and drive technology development in the fields of materials and welding.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the technology development plan.
  • Address and assist with technical queries from material suppliers, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

We think you should have:

  • A relevant Master's or Bachelor's degree.
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Material Engineer.
  • Strong familiarity and experience with NORSOK standards for materials.
  • Innovative, solution-oriented, and able to think outside the box.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong leadership skills with the capability to manage and guide a team of highly skilled professionals across multiple projects.
  • Fluent in both Norwegian and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Location: Stord Yard, with occasional travel assignments.
