We are specialists in managing large projects from feasibility studies and conceptual engineering, through FEED and detailed engineering.Engineering is executing major projects across the globe in both oil and gas and renewables sectors. This includes Norway’s ground-breaking Brevik carbon capture project, as well as Northern Lights, the world’s first CO₂ storage facility on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. 

Furthermore, we are developing the design and delivery methods for offshore floating wind and future hydrogen and ammonia projects.As part of a strategic alliance, we are also working on a large digitalization project, whilst pioneering new digital solutions to make operations safer and more efficient.

Our Structure group within the Structure, Architecture and Maintenance department in Fornebu is now looking for a Specialist 2D/ 3D CAD Designer.  

Over the years, Aker Solutions has developed procedures, work instructions and guidelines for optimizing and standardizing the structural design and fabrication processes in our projects. Sets of structural Standard Details are also part of this development. The Standard Details range from welding and joint details for the different structure classes to specific components as monorail beams, stairs ladders, etc. The aforementioned documents and Standard Details are part of Aker Solutions governing documents.

The scope of work involves the maintenance and further development and optimization of the Standard Details in close collaboration with the responsible engineer. To succeed, sound experience in structural offshore design and structural fabrication processes will be needed.

What will you be doing?

  • Act as responsible for developing standard detail drawing solutions, interfacing with designers and checking the finished drawings.
  • Keep track of versions and revision over several projects at any one time and maintain the Basis Archive on the SPS updated continuously.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing Standard Detail SPS site, working methods, Work Instructions and ensure that all use of Standard details follows the rules laid down in the Work Instructions.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team and project members.
  • Assist in coordinating with other disciplines and project stakeholders such as client and fabrication to integrate their requirements in the development of the structural standard details.
  • Review structural designs and deliverables related to Standard details and take lead in transfer as Work Instructions to the management system
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with industry codes, standards, and handle project specifications, as well as give variations in detail solutions.

We think you should have:

  • BSc in Engineering degree
  • Preferably around 10 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Work as a team member and coordinate with other experts in team.
  • Experience in working on Oil & Gas/ energy projects
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses a good attention to detail
  • Interest in and ability to involve yourself in all aspects of standard detail development, from overall procedures and working methods down to detailing level of detail geometry, welding, inspection categories, drawing notes etc.
  • Draft checking experience
  • Experience with shop engineering or work with a fabrication yard is an advantage.

Software skills:

  • Aveva E3D
  • MS Office
  • Knowledge to relevant structural analysis and design software, such as Sesam Genie, STAAD, Abaqus, or similar tools.
  • AutoCad/BricsCad
