We are looking for a Legal Counsel / Legal Adviser to join our team based in our Aberdeen (AIBP) office.
What will you be doing?
- Provide legal support to tender activities worldwide, including advising on and negotiating contract terms towards clients, subcontractors and partners and working closely with the tender management team.
- Provide broad legal support to ongoing projects globally, including contract management, safeguarding key contractual and commercial processes, and working closely with the project management to ensure best practices and results.
- Support corporate governance processes for Aker Solutions’ global delivery models and our global presence, including establishment of cross-border legal and contractual structures
- Manage claims and dispute resolutions processes, providing robust recommendations/advice.
- Develop and maintain credibility with management within all business segments to ensure understanding and compliance to functional policies.
- Work closely with our legal departments in Norway, India, Malaysia, and North America and other internal departments such as tax, treasury, supply chain and insurance to develop a broad understanding of business requirements.
- Liaise with external counsel, as required
- Provide legal advice to the management teams of Aker Solutions, considering legal, commercial, operational and strategic contexts in the advice given.
We think you should have:
- LLB or equivalent with strong academic results. Formal qualification as a solicitor is a benefit. We also welcome applications from candidates with non-UK legal diplomas.
- At least two years’ experience as a legal professional, either in-house, with relevant public offices or with a law firm. Relevant experience within new energy services, consultancy, oil and gas and/or construction projects. Experience with industry standard contract templates beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to have influence and credibility with management.
- Sound understanding of legal principles in a relevant industry.
- Strong personal motivation.
- A strategic and commercial mindset.
- Leadership skills to own and take responsibility for your portfolio and the desire to be a true team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
