Aker Solutions' Application Engineering team based in Mobile, AL, is responsible for the engineering, design, installation and service of our subsea oil and gas equipment. We need mechanical engineers who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the Gulf of Mexico market. We are looking for an Engineer III - Mechanical.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Use best practices to solve functional issues and improve programs and/or processes in support of organizational business challenges.

  • Oversee the work quality of a team of technical draftsmen designing single product components

  • Design complex engineering plans and lead the work of others evaluating the effectiveness, safety, and economic impact of designs and developing recommendations to optimize results, as needed.

  • Use engineering or work-related skills to solve technical design-related problems; analyzing and interpreting experimental and field data and making recommendations concerning product design, materials, and manufacture.

  • Prepare and present moderately complex proposals and reports.

  • Demonstrates consistent communication skills including selling and/or customer relation skills.

  • Frequent and consistent interface with departmental staff, lower and middle management, and external clients is important for building relationships for future business opportunities.

Qualifications and Personal Qualities:

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering

  • 5-7 years of technical experience

  • Ability to train others in the application of engineering practices as related to area of expertise, including code and criteria requirements.

  • Ability to provide quality oversight, review, edit and refine others reports.

  • Ability to play and active and substantial role in bid and proposal process.
  • Prior experience with subsea equipment such as XMT, Manifolds and SCMs strongly preferred
  • Ability to proficiently communicate ideas and concepts, developing the ability to persuade and influence others as needed, explaining why things are done the way they are within a broader organizational context.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are critical.
