Aker Solutions approved as European EPD generator

The combination of our LCA service and the ability to generate EPDs turns Aker Solutions into a one-stop-shop for identifying, optimizing, and documenting the environmental footprint of products and services in our industry.
A step-change in environmental reporting and product certification
At the heart of our new EPD-offering lies our certified digitalized and ISO standard compliant LCA service, developed in-house based on our extensive engineering, procurement, and construction experience within the energy industry.
An LCA calculates the environmental impact of products and services throughout their entire lifetime, from raw material extraction through production, transportation, use and finally disposal or recycling.
An EPD is a 3rd party verified and registered document certifying the results of a LCA, with transparent and comparable information based on recognized international standards.
The powerful combined offering will not only reduce costs and lead times for reporting and certification. It will also enable the entire value chain, from manufacturers to end users, to proactively take charge of their sustainability agenda by focusing on environmental impacts when designing and selecting products.

Wide application across industries
The LCA services offered by Aker Solutions can be applied to renewable projects, transitional energy solutions and traditional oil and gas projects. Even without an EPD in scope, an LCA offers valuable insight into environmental performance of products and services, helping to identify and mitigate emission hotspots.
Both offerings are relevant for a wide range of customers, from service and product suppliers to asset managers and owners. Aker Solutions also uses these tools internally to make informed decisions about our own operations.
A new standard for environmental certification in Europe
The approval is granted by EPD-Norway. Håkon Hauan, General Manager of EPD-Norway, is pleased that Norwegian and international businesses are increasingly competing on the basis of environmental footprint:
