Aker Solutions' Asset Integrity Management (AIM) group based in Aberdeen have responsibility for a number of key contracts both locally and internationally. We are looking for a Graduate Structural Integrity Engineer to join our team in support of our continued growth

Whilst the AIM team specialises in Structural Integrity Management activities, experience in this team provides an excellent grounding for a more general Structural Engineering career, through gaining understanding of structural behaviour, analysis, design, risk management, maintenance and inspection

The focus of work will be primarily on offshore steel fixed structures (jack-ups, jackets and topsides), but may occasionally include seabed structures, floating structures (FPSO, FSU) or onshore structures (terminals, refineries)

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • The Engineer will be mentored and work under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, but will be expected to demonstrate an ability to manage their own workload within agreed scopes and budgets

  • Appropriate in-house and 3rd party training will be provided to develop the Graduate’s knowledge in subject areas relevant to work performed by AIM

  • The engineer will be involved in the broader Structural Engineering and Integrity management tasks undertaken by AIM and may also be asked to assist temporarily with project design work in other parts of the Company, as part of their career development

  • Preparation, maintenance and update of Structural Integrity computer models (STAAD Pro, SESAM, SACS) and supporting documentation

  • Global structural analysis (In-place, fatigue, push-over) and detailed local FE analysis

  • Ageing or damaged structure assessment and analysis

  • Preparation and update of inspection strategies (subsea & topsides), component criticality assessment, inspection plans and workpacks

  • Provision of technical support to client regarding performance envelope of assets, design basis, design code compliance, topside loading or metocean data

  • Weight control

  • Conceptual and detail design engineering for modification and repair schemes (e.g. deck extensions, new caisson supports, repair clamps, damaged beam repairs)

Qualifications and Personal Qualities:

  • This engineer will be qualified to degree standard or higher in an appropriate engineering subject (structural, mechanical, automotive, aeronautical etc)

  • Some experience with structural or mechanical analysis software would be an advantage

  • The Engineer will have good command of the English language and will be able to communicate well in both verbal and written form

  • Team working skills will be essential
