Aker Solutions' Global Maintenance and Operations Contract (GMOC) based in Aberdeen support the Total E&P (TEP) Elgin offshore installation and associated satellite platforms within the Field. We seek experienced personnel who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the offshore based market.

We are looking for an Instrument Technician to work within our Core Team undertaking ongoing Maintenance and repair activities. The Instrument Technician will work as part of the instrument maintenance team executing both planned and corrective maintenance. Be capable of joining the operations team and work towards becoming competent in operating the process areas as laid out in the Elgin PUQ competence programme.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

    • Electric, hydraulic and pneumatic actuators

    • Logic, manual, relief, control and non-return valves

    • Level, pressure, temperature and flow indicators and fire, gas vibration and position transmitters

    • Gas and liquid analysers

    • Electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic control loops

    • Electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic measurement loops

    • Pressure storage equipment

    • Electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits

    • Electrical interlocks

    • AC and DC power protection

Qualifications and Personal Qualities:

    • Apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ/SVQ or City and Guilds qualification

    • Competent in the use of P&ID’s

    • Familiar with F&G Detection, Protection and Control Systems

    • Competent in the use of Electrical and Instrument Loop Drawings

    • Previous experience working offshore or hydrocarbon processing operations

    • Working knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

    • Compex

    • Ability to relate well to colleagues and superiors

    • Good verbal and written communication

    • Ability to improve own skills through self-learning and coaching
